Our first Audio Book recording is in progress
Shelfstealers is thrilled to welcome Father Marc Powell as our first, confirmed volunteer to our Clear Eye Books program. He'll be recording the audio book for JOE PEACE by Kerry Dunn.
Father Marc is a Catholic priest/actor/writer from Seattle, WA, who adapts novels and short stories into stage and radio plays. His most recent stage adaptation of author Ron Hansen's New York Times bestselling novel 'Atticus' premiered in 2011 at the Blue Heron Arts Center on Vashon Island, WA. His one-act stage adaptations of bestselling author Susan Vreeland's short stories 'The Cure' and 'Uncommon Clay' also premiered at the Blue Heron. He has acted in numerous roles in stage productions throughout Washington state and California, including in Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' as Don Jon, in Jean Anouilh's 'Antigone' as the Choragus, and in Daniel Sullivan's 'Inspecting Carol' as Walter. He is currently in pre-production on two radio play adaptations by California crime-noir author Simon Wood and Alaskan author Mary-Beth Holleman.
He is pastor of a small 200-family parish on Vashon Island, about half an hour by boat from downtown Seattle. Before ordination, he worked as a newspaper reporter for 'The News Tribune' in Tacoma, WA.
JOE PEACE is Fr. Marc's first audio book performance for Shelfstealers, but we hope he'll be interested in volunteering his time - and his amazing reading and acting skills - to future projects.
Through the kindness of people like Fr. Marc, Shelfstealers is able to donate audio books by our talented authors to organizations throughout the world who serve people with visual disabilities.
